Homework: December 18 Thursday

It's hard to believe that there are only two more days until Christmas break. I'm very excited that so many will be traveling and seeing family for the holidays. We had a fantastic day. Savannah has a birthday tomorrow. We celebrated early enjoying cupcakes, baggy treats, and a pinata from the Mekics. Hopefully the baggy treats made it home for everyone to enjoy. Here is the homework for tomorrow.

Math: Complete 44B. Kindergarten learned a new concept of subtracting. Work with your child on subtracting one from any number that is ten or less. Put pennies, nickels, and dimes in a cup and have your child count the money.

Phonics: I sent home a book for the 1st graders to read. Please read the book and answer the worksheets that go along with it. Kindergarten has a simple worksheet.

Bible: Thursday is the Christmas program. Please rehearse "Away in a Manger" with your child and make sure they arrive no later than 6:15 for the program.

That's all! I know many are traveling and will not be able to come to the party on Friday. I wish you the best travels and look forward to seeing ya'll at the Christmas program. Have a fantastic day.

Homework: December 16 Tuesday

We had a fantastic time at our field trip, and now we're already on the last week of school before Christmas. There is a Christmas program on Thursday night and a Christmas party on Friday (Friday is a half day). Whewww. Everything is in high gear. Here is the homework for tomorrow.

Math: Complete worksheet 43B and work with your child on counting pennies, nickels, and dimes. Have them “buy” things in your house. Also, work with your child on doing clock drills.

Phonics: Complete 74A/B/C. Kindergarten has a test (74C). Have your child take the test and make sure you include it in their home folder so that I can grade it. We will take the spelling test that we missed on Friday for 1st grade this Wednesday. Please review the words with your child.

Bible: Memorize “Away in a Manager.” Give close attention to the melody

Art: Complete the Christmas Tree Blessing. Color the tree, write a blessing on an ornament, color the ornament, and glue it to the Christmas tree.

Science: The kids really enjoyed making snowflakes. I’ve enclosed a brief lesson on how snowflakes are formed. Read it to your child and have them make a snowflake from a paper square.

Christmas Party on Friday!!! Sign up online with the link that you receive in an email. All parents and children are welcomed to attend.

Opryland Hotel III

The Heils were very kind and treated the kids to a boat ride around Delta Island. It was a fun trip, and the kids really enjoyed getting into the Christmas spirit. Thank you to all the parents who came. I cannot wait to do it again!

Field Trip to the Opryland Hotel

Last Wednesday we went to the Opryland Hotel for a field trip. Our was to get the kids in the Christmas spirit. Many parents came and helped with the field trip, and that was a great help. Mrs. Turhune and Mr. McClelland's class teamed and had a blast.

We started the day with a big splash and an early lunch.

Homework: December 9 Tuesday

We're counting the days until Christmas and it's just 18 days! Everyone is excited and we've begun decorating the classroom. It's going to be a hop, skip, and jump. Here is the homework for tomorrow.

Math: Complete 41B in your home folder and continue to work with your child on counting pennies, nickels, and dimes.

Phonics: Kindergarten read a story today about Pepin and 1st grade did some drills with their vocabulary. Complete 71A/B in your home folder and begin to practice the spelling words for Friday.

Bible: The children are doing very well with "Away in a Manger." Continue to work with them on stanzas three and four. Remember to stay low on line three of stanza one, three, and five.

Science: Mrs. Sensing came in to show us how wheat turns into flour. Now it's time to take the next step. Work with your child on baking bread. Teach them how to kneed and see if it will rise in the oven.

Field Trip!!!! Wednesday is our field trip. I sent home permission slips today. Please return them by Wednesday signed and with $1 to cover parking.

Have a great day!
